This film was improvised at El Pescador Beach in April 2004, while Rena and I were both students at CalArts. I had just watched a copy of Roger Corman's The Terror (1963), starring Jack Nicholson, and this is a kind of revised version of that film's ending--in which Jack Nicholson kisses a dead woman during a lightning storm at the beach, then looks up to the sky at stock footage of a bird, then back at his lady, who's now a melting skull. Our version had more nostalgia-based existential angst.
